Mamoru - teaching, translating and art

Born in Kochi, Japan on October 16, 1948 as the youngest of eight brothers and sisters of a non-Catholic family. Married with 14 years old daughter, Hitomi, my jewel and buddy.

Of those who don't know about Kochi, it was a great place from where true revolutionaries like Sakamoto Ryoma, and a great philosopher Nakae Chomin were produced. We seemed to run out of the great human stock since then.

Never left Kochi until graduated from high school, a real country boy. After several odd jobs in Osaka and Tokyo for two years, headed for the land of opportunities, the United States of America to study. Graduated from the University of Texas, Austin in 1976. BBA.

Neither the U of Texas nor the BBA meant much back in Japan in looking for a job. Started working for a small company in Tokyo that was specialized in anything related to "foreign", foreign language, foreign countries, foreign goods, and so forth.

Travelled all over the world, and lived in Kuwait, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and Bangladesh for a minimum of six months each on business assignment. Intellectually extremely boring experience but acquired all the needed skills to survive and accomplish the set goals even under very difficult circumstances.

Returned to Kochi in 1991, started my own English and computer school (Macs). Also started an art gallery in 1995, but my brother runs the show and I'm a bean counter. A great fan and advocate of the Internet, and with it the human communication.
